Teepee Fire
This is a useful fire that is easy to light. Basically you want to build a teepee type structure around your tinder bundle while leaving access to light your tinder bundle.

First, gather your tinder bundle. Next, place a few twigs around the tinder bundle in the form of a teepee, and make sure to slightly press them into the ground to provide support. Now, place small kindling twigs around the tinder bundle, following the teepee pattern. Continue with the pattern adding larger sticks. Next, light the tinder bundle. Once the fire catches on the support branches, add larger wood to the structure. What I usually do is turn the fire into a log cabin type fire, which burns bigger and hotter, after the teepee has caught. This is what your teepee should look like:



In this picture the fire has been burning for a while, so you can notice how it begins to degrade making it easier to begin to build your log cabin. Notice how this fire is more centrally concentrated. This makes it easy to control, and allows for easy cooking when using a tripod.

YEAH I WAS TAUGHT HOW TO BUILD THE TEEPEE FIRE ON A CAMPING TRIP AND I MUST SAY I AM PRETTY BAD ASS AT BUILDING THEM PROBABLY THE BEST THAT I KNOW OF.

That is a good skill.

ya i always found it pretty easy myself, but if the wind is blowing like hurricaine Katrina its pretty difficult.
